About S F H

Poetry first. Human always.

Stephen Hollins (S F H) is a poet, performer and composer from Waiheke Island, Aotearoa New Zealand. After three decades in theatre, mime, clown and opera, he walked the Camino de Santiago in 2016 and began writing poetry seriously.

Today those poems become songs through the Hollins Method — the poem comes first, and it decides the genre, the tempo, the instruments and the emotional arc of the song.

Dreaming of Africa — out now

A grandfather writes a song for his grandson Azuma on his 18th birthday — a young man with African roots and a world still ahead of him. Then the music takes over.

Eighteen songs of Afrobeat, amapiano, highlife and poetry, made on Waiheke Island and sent home to Africa.
